What Else Could Go Wrong?

Okay, I am T I R E D!!  My daughter Jen and I have been wrestling with a flooded basement since noon on Tuesday.  First thought was our gutters were having problems and couldn’t take care of the run off from a huge storm on Sunday and Monday.

Jen had vacuumed water for two days and was astounded when she came down to check things on the third day to find water 1″ deep again.  Something wasn’t right.  I kept hearing the slight whine of water running — we checked all over the house — ah hah — Jen found the leak – at the base of the tank on the downstairs toilet.  After several minutes of wrestling with valves and jennie-rigging the bulb in the toilet to keep it from running, the leak was stopped.

Now, we have a plumber coming about four or five o’clock — do we need him?  Can’t we just leave the jennie-rigged coat hanger on the toilet and the big pot under the leak — should we really spend the $$.

Still not sure if the flooding was caused by the rain and compounded by the leak, or if the entire flooding was due to the leak — which ever, if Jen hadn’t persisted in coming back to the house today, I dread thinking what kind of mess we would have ended up with.

P S Jen did all the physical labor – I played with Carson.
